General FAQs:

How long is a physical therapy session?

Because your first appointment will include an initial evaluation, it will be a little longer (approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours). The following appointments typically take 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Arrangements can always be made to adapt to your schedule

Can I take a tour?

Of course! Give our office a call to schedule a tour, or walk right in. We would be happy to show you around. You can also take a virtual tour of our office by clicking the link Virtual Tour.

Do I need a prescription?

Most insurance companies require you to get a prescription from your doctor. However, there are a few which allow you to come for 30 days without a script under Direct Access. Direct access means the removal of the physician referral mandated by state law to access physical therapists' services for evaluation and treatment. These include: Blue Cross Blue Shield Community, Blue Cross Blue Shield Comprehensive, Blue Cross Blue Shield Indemnity, Keystone, Preferred Blue and UPMC (This does not include UPMC for You or UPMC for Life.). In addition, patients can come without a script from their doctor if they choose to self pay. Self pay rates are $150 for the initial appointment and $100 thereafter.

What do I wear?

You will want to dress in comfortable clothing that allows easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas. Loose fitting clothes are best and supportive sneakers are good choices to wear.

How many sessions will I have?

Number of sessions varies for each patient. Together with your referring physician, your therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you. Your plan of care and number of visits will be determined during your first visit and explained to you by your physical therapist.
